Serious game - Navigating Entrepreneurial Uncertainty
"ESHIP - Navigating Uncertainty" is a role-playing game in which the participants assume the roles of characters and collaboratively create stories.
The game uses research-based knowledge of leading Entrepreneurial scholars from Shepherd & McMullen to Shane & Venkataraman to Sarasvathy, Knight, Schumpeter, among others. However, this is embedded in the game design and options and one need not have any awareness of these to play. Similarly, the game also implicitly uses Design-thinking.
The players can test their team based decision-making abilities within the safe and risk-free environment of a game. It can be played by novices or experts, and anyone who would like to brainstorm their own project idea.
As a teacher, you are the facilitator. Running the game goes very easily as there is no rulebook as such. The Main-deck will lead the students through the instructions and learning whenever needed. During the game the teacher follows the progress of the players with the game and help them with any questions.
The Main-Deck of 50 cards contains three major types of cards (Guide, Action and Story), and two special cards (Event and Judging Criteria). These are arranged in a numerical order (1-50). The cards should not be sorted.
